Declan Kelleher

Declan was nominated to the Council by the INTO. He is a former President of the INTO and is currently Deputy Chair of the NCCA. He taught in St. Brigid's BNS in Killester Dublin and Ennis National School before spending 32 years as teaching principal of Scoil Mhuire Naisiúnta, Corofin, Co Clare. Declan graduated from UCD with a BA in English and History, obtained a H.Dip in Education from Trinity College Dublin and took his initial primary teaching qualification from St Patrick's College of Education.

Declan's interests include educational disadvantage, the role of the teaching principal, curriculum development and special education needs. His aspirations for the teaching profession include a Teaching Council which fully connects with the profession, high quality teacher education and quality ongoing professional development.
