What do I need to do when I complete Droichead

Upon completion of the Droichead process, the Professional Support Team and the NQT collaborate to complete Form D which can be downloaded from the Teaching Council website here. This form, along with the confirmation email from the Limerick Education Centre must be submitted to the Teaching Council. If you commenced Droichead prior to September 2016 please refer to transitionary arrangements below.

What happens when I submit a Form D and a DR1 email?

If you are a primary teacher and you submit a Form D, the conditions of Droichead /Probation and Induction (if applicable) are removed.

If you are a post-primary teacher and you submit a Form D, the conditions of Droichead, Post Qualification Employment (PQE) and Induction (if applicable) are removed.

What happens where the PST has recommened that I need more time to complete the Droichead process? Does the process start all over again?

If your employment is continuous in the same school, the process continues with a further period of professional practice and additional supports. Further guidance in this area can be found in the Teaching Council's Droichead Policy 2016.

If you move to another Droichead school then the process will being again and should take place over a period of not less than 60 days in the case of primary teachers and 200 hours in the case of post-primary teachers.
