Teaching Council Elections: Candidate Nominations Open

The term of office of the current Teaching Council comes to an end in March 2016. The Council has 37 members and 16 of these are teachers who are elected by teachers. An election for teacher members will be held online from 22 February to noon on 9 March.

As a registered teacher, we believe that it is important that you make the most of this opportunity to cast your vote for membership of the next Council. It is your chance, in collaboration with your peers, to help lead the development of national policy as it relates to teaching and learning, and professional standards in the teaching profession. The elected members that you vote for will be in a position to make a significant contribution to this.

Candidate nominations

Candidate nominations must be delivered to Election Nominations, The Teaching Council, Block A, Maynooth Business Campus, Maynooth, Co. Kildare before 4.00pm on 29 January 2016.

The Teaching Council (Election of Members) Regulations, 2015 set out the rules governing the nominations process

Each teacher seeking nomination will need the signatures of 15 teachers. These teachers must be registered to vote in the electoral category and the Geographic Constituency of the teacher whose nomination they are supporting.
