Guide to applying for Vetting

The Teaching Council liaises with the National Vetting Bureau on behalf of teachers in Ireland for criminal record disclosures. The National Vetting Bureau application process is now online. The steps applicants must follow are explained below. Please follow each step carefully in order to ensure that the application is processed smoothly.

Due to the high volumes of vetting applications being processed at present, the average turnaround time for processing has increased to approximately 4 weeks. It is not possible for the Council to provide individual status updates for stage 1 of the process, however, once you have completed step two, you can track your application on the NVB website.
