Minister appoints new member to Teaching Council

Ms Mary Brennan was appointed by the Minister for Education and Science, Mr Batt O’Keeffe, TD, as a member of the Teaching Council on 18 November 2009. Mary is one of 22 teacher representatives on the Council, 16 of whom were elected by registered teachers in February last.
Mary takes the place of Ms Carmel Bradwell, who was elected as a primary teacher representative in the Leinster constituency. Ms. Bradwell resigned from her position as a teacher representative on the Council in September 2009. As the runner-up in the same constituency and category, Mary Brennan was subsequently appointed to that position.
The Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Carmel Bradwell for her contribution as a Council Member and to wish Mary Brennan every good wish in her new role.
