First Scheme – 2007

The Council's first scheme of research bursaries was launched in May 2007. As part of that scheme, bursaries totalling almost €50,000 were awarded in December 2007 to ten registered teachers who carried out practitioner-based research.

Second Scheme – 2008/2009

The Council’s second scheme of research bursaries was launched in December 2007. This was open to all registered teachers and the total amount available was €75,000. A further €25,000 was made available to persons other than registered teachers who carried out research in the area of teaching, learning and assessment.

Third Scheme – 2009/2010

In September 2008, the third scheme of research bursaries was launched. 28 bursaries totalling €98,250 were awarded under that scheme in May 2009. Details are available here.

Fourth Scheme - 2010/2011: Kieran O'Driscoll Memorial Bursary Awards

The fourth scheme of research bursaries was launched in October 2009 and 36 bursaries totalling €123,000 were awarded in October 2010 in memory of Kieran O'Driscoll, esteemed former member of the Teaching Council.  Details of research funded under the scheme are available here.
