Proposed Teaching Council Requirements for Entry onto a Programme of Initial Teacher Education (Post-Primary)
The Teaching Council is undertaking a review of all post-primary curricular subject requirements and the procedures to determine suitability of degree qualifications prior to entry onto programmes of initial teacher education. As part of this extensive consultation process, it circulated consultation documentation which sets out the Council’s proposals.

The closing date for receipt of the observations and views of all interested parties has now passed (29th February 2012) and the feedback from a variety of key stakeholders is currently being reviewed. Based on these responses it is envisaged that a further draft of the subject requirements and the procedures for entry onto ITE programmes will be circulated over the coming months.
