The Teaching Council's research webinars follow a variety of formats from panel discussions to presentations by guest lecturers. They usually take place on Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m., and a complete schedule is available below. All webinars are also recorded and all previous webinars can be viewed on this website here.

 

January 2019

  • 16 January, 8.00-9.00p.m. Joint Teaching Council and Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT) Webinar on the theme of "Reflective Teaching, Reflective Learning: Continuing the Conversation". 

This will take the form of a panel discussion, chaired by the Teaching Council’s Director, Tomás Ó Ruairc, and involving:

  • Dr Pádraig Kirk (Director of Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT), a Department of Education and Skills schools’ support service established in 2013 to support schools in implementing the Framework for Junior Cycle)  
  • Professor (Emerita) Ruth Leitch (School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, Queen’s University Belfast)
  • Bernie Tobin (Deputy Principal at St. John the Evangelist National School, Lucan, Co. Dublin)
  • Dr Conor Mellon (Seconded teacher, currently working in the Teachers’ Learning and Research section of the Teaching Council)
  • Anita McDonald (Post-Primary Teacher at Ballybay Community College, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan)

February 2019

6 February, 8.00-9.00 p.m.- ‘’Childhood Bilingualism’’. This will take the form of a panel discussion, chaired by the Teaching Council’s Director, Tomás Ó Ruairc, and involving:

  • Professor Pádraig Ó Duibhir (Deputy Dean and Director of International Relations at Dublin City University (DCU) Institute of Education)
  • Dr Francesca La Morgia (Assistant Professor in Clinical Speech and Language Studies at Trinity College Dublin and the founder and coordinator of the Irish Research Network in Childhood Bilingualism)
  • Dr Bozena Dubiel (Lecturer and researcher in Humanities at Institute of Technology Blanchardstown)
