Building on the popularity of the previous Research Bursary Schemes, and reflecting evolving thinking on research, teaching and learning, the Teaching Council announced a Research Support Framework on 11 March 2017. The framework has been designed to support teachers’ ongoing professional learning through their engagement in and with research, and the sum of €100,000 is being made available for the framework in the current year.
In 2018, this framework was renamed the John Coolahan Research Support Framework, to mark the immense contribution of Professor John Coolahan to the field of education at home and abroad. We were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Professor Coolahan, the Father of Irish Education. His work, life and energy up to the end will be an inspiration for all who care about teaching, learning and research.
The closing date to apply for support under this framework was 12 p.m. (mid-day) on Tuesday 5 June. Late applications will not be considered.
