Teachers who have recently applied for vetting
The Teaching Council recently issued notices to a large number of teachers who are part of the re-vetting project. Due to the high volume of applications that are being received and processed at present, the turnaround time for applications maybe longer than the normal 5 days.
If you have applied for vetting recently via the Teaching Council and you wish to check the status of your application with the National Vetting Bureau you can do so by logging on to the National Vetting Bureau website.
The vetting application number/application ID as issued by email on successful completion of a vetting application is required.
Teachers who will be requested to be re-vetted
If you do not hold the online National Vetting Bureau (NVB) Disclosure, you will be contacted by the Teaching Council over the coming months and invited to complete the process under the re-vetting project. Further information on the re-vetting of registered teachers is available here.
All registered teachers who have been vetted through the Teaching Council will have been issued with either a Teaching Council GCVU vetting result letter (prior to 29 April 2016) or a National Vetting Bureau Disclosure (after 29 April 2016).
Registered teachers can check their vetting details by logging in to view /change their registration details using a password here. Once successfully logged in, the most recent vetting information held by the Teaching Council is available to view under the 'Vetting Details' option.
Teachers who hold a NVB Vetting Disclosure are not included in the current re-vetting project. They will have a
- Vetting Clearance dated after 29 April 2016 with
- Vetting Clearance Reference beginning with TEC
Teachers who were vetted prior to the establishment of the NVB and hold the old paper vetting disclosure will have a vetting clearance reference in the format 06/0000 to 16/00000.
