Droichead (Covid 19) 2020/2023

Form D – I have completed my Droichead process. How should I submit my Droichead Form D?

New answer should be: Upon completion of the Droichead process, you may complete the online Form D. You may access it by selecting "Login/My Registration", then "My Conditions" and the "View Details" option on your Droichead condition. You may then select the option to complete your Droichead Form D.

Form D – What is the deadline for the submission of my Form D?

The 2022/2023 Form D must be submitted prior to 28 July 2023.

Form D – Can my online teaching and learning be counted?

With the agreement of your PST/Principal, online teaching and learning can be counted towards the period of practice required for Droichead.

Strand A - How many observations are required? Will observations carried out online be accepted? Is one observation done by PST and one by NQT sufficient?

It is recommended that there would be at least two of each type of classroom observation (observations by the NQT, and observations of the NQT’s practice), and that the exact number, and the classes observed, should be based on discussions between the NQT and the PST. Where the PST(s) believe that you have engaged fully in a quality induction process, they have observed sufficient elements of your practice, and have had sufficient professional conversations, they can sign your Form D.

Strand B – Will Cluster Meeting 1 still be available in Term 2/3?

Yes, Cluster Meeting 1 will still be available in Term 2 and 3. They are facilitated by the NIPT. You may register to complete Cluster Meeting(s) via the NIPT website.

PST – There’s only one fully-trained PST member in my school. Can I still complete Droichead?

For this academic year 2022/2023, on an exceptional basis, additional flexibility has been introduced to support the Droichead process for both teachers and schools/PST members. Where only one fully trained PST member is available, please contact the NIPT for advice at info@teacherinduction.ie on how you may proceed with your application.

Absences – I have started the Droichead process in 2022/2023, but due to illness or self-isolation relating to Covid-19, I have found myself unable to teach for a period of time. Will I have to recommence the process?

Where a teacher is unable to continue to engage in the Droichead process due to Covid-19 related illness or self-isolation, the process may continue on return to the teaching post and extend to allow completion of the required elements of Strand A and Strand B.
