FÉILTE 2014

On Saturday 4 October 2014, the Teaching Council marked UNESCO World Teachers' Day with FÉILTE, the Festival of Education in Learning and Teaching Excellence. The theme was “Talking about teaching: Tearing down the walls". FÉILTE 2014 featured a mix of over 50 showcases and workshops spanning projects from across the education sector, demonstrating the innovation happening in teaching and learning now.

The day commenced with a keynote address by broadcaster Ryan Tubridy, followed by three panel discussions chaired by Matt Cooper.

One of the panels focused on well-being and contributors were Bressie, Eoghan McDermott, Conor Cusack, Clare Hayes(AWARE) and AnnMarie Ireland (teacher and facilitator with www.chilloutireland.ie).

The two other panels focused on the themes of the needs of newly qualified teachers and those of experienced teachers. The day also included an address by the Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O'Sullivan TD, and a performance by the National Children's Choir.
