Any registered teacher can apply on behalf of a lead school in the Republic of Ireland. However, the principal of the lead school must consent to the application.

Applications involving two or more schools can apply for €2,000. 

Applications involving three or more schools can apply for €2,000 or €5,000. 

The scoring of the applications will be done by an independent panel, appointed by the Director of the Teaching Council.  

Yes. Recipients of the Féilte Bursary Scheme 2024 are welcomed to apply again. 

Applications close on 31 October 2025.

Applicants will be notified via email on mid January 2026.  

No. You must be a registered teacher to apply. 

Payment of the bursary will be made to the ETB bank account.

We advise you to contact your ETB in advance to organise the transfer of funds and gather the necessary information.

A minimum of two schools is required to collaborate to apply for €2,000 and a minimum of three schools are required to collaborate to apply for €5,000.  

There is no limit to the number of collaborating schools. 

Only the first valid application received by the Teaching Council will be considered for assessment.  

The Féilte Bursary is designed to enhance teacher professional learning. The chosen activities must focus on teacher professional learning, rather than outcomes for pupils or students.  

Yes, appeals can be made in writing within 7 days of receiving the outcome and sent to feilte@teachingcouncil.ie.
