The Teaching Council is the regulator of the teaching profession and promotes professional standards in teaching. It acts in the interests of the public good while upholding and enhancing the reputation and status of the teaching profession through fair and transparent regulation.

Circular 0025/2013 on Section 30

Section 30 of the Teaching Council Act, 2001 will commence on 1 November 2013.

After 1 November, teachers employed in State-funded teaching positions in recognised schools will have to be registered with the Teaching Council in order to be paid from State funds.
