An amendment to the Teaching Council Registration Regulations was approved and signed into law by the Minister for Education, together with the Chairperson and the Director of the Teaching Council, in December 2021. This amendment enables student teachers who have successfully completed the first two years of an accredited undergraduate Initial Teacher Education programme (primary and post-primary) to apply for registration with the Teaching Council. The application process for this route of registration, namely ‘Route 5 – Student Teachers’ has now commenced. Eligible student teachers will receive an email inviting them to register over the coming days. Once registration is finalised a Certificate of Registration will be issued.
